Hi everyone. Today I am going to write about the 8 phases of the moon. Gaining wisdom of the moon can fuel a personal journey of self-discovery, inner work, and soul healing. Connecting with your crystals is an important part of developing this skill and pushing further into the cosmic energy of who you are and how you engage with the world around you.

The moon may not speak, but she can teach you many things. The lunar cycle is a guide for periods of activity and rest that you experience in your own life on a daily and seasonal basis.

The moons orbit

The moon completes a full orbit around the earth in approximately 29.5 days or one month. There are 8 phases of the moon. The lunar cycle begins with the New moon and then makes its progression through each phase. These phases reflect where the moon is in its orbit in relation to the earth and the sun. The moonlight we see on earth is the sunlight reflected off the moons surface.

The amount of moon that we see changes over the month, known as lunar phases. The moon orbits the earth and the earth orbits the sun so everything is moving.

Our moon doesn’t shine it reflects, just like the daytime on earth, the sunlight illuminates the moon.

The 8 phases of the moon

There are 8 phases of the moon.

. New moon -The entire far side of the moon is illuminated by the sun, but the side facing the earth is completely shaded.

. Waxing crescent – 1-49% of one side of the moon is illuminated

. First quarter – 50% of one side of the moon is illuminated.

. Waxing gibbous – 51-99% of one side of the moon is illuminated.

. Full moon – The entire moon is illuminated.

. Waning gibbous – 99-51% of one side of the moon is illuminated.

. Last quarter – 50% of one side of the moon is illuminated.

. Waning crescent – 49-1% of one side of the moon is illuminated.

The moon then returns to a New moon, where it is positioned directly between the earth and the sun. In this phase the entire far side of the moon is illuminated by the sun and the side facing the earth is completely in shadow, giving the illusion that there is no moon in the sky.

Once you understand the 8 phases of the moon, you will begin to see how they mimic other natural cycles, like the changing seasons or the rising and setting of the sun. It is important that we live in harmony with this cycle. Learning how to connect with your crystals through rituals and meditation during each phase of the moon can help to align you with the lunar energy .

Combining Crystals with moon rituals

When working with lunar energy, crystals can strengthen your connection to the moon and allow you to experience the moons vibrations in a totally different way.

Crystals, being natural amplifiers of energy, boost your emotional connection to your ritual work, enhancing your manifesting experience.

The moon is dynamic and constantly changing, just like the earth is. Crystals are natural companions to the moon, hence using them to work with spiritual lunar rituals and energies feels amazing.

A ritual for the New moon.

Items you will need:

1. Paper and a pen

2. Rose scented incense

3. A black candle

4. A black moonstone crystal

5. A rhodonite crystal

6. A golden tigers eye crystal

7. A rainbow moonstone crystal

Ritual:

Light the incense and the black candle. Focus on the candle flame and soften your gaze.

Pick up your black moonstone crystal and close your eyes.

Think about the upcoming lunar cycle and what you would like to call into your life during this new moon. For inspiration, you may also hold your rhodonite crystal in your hand.

Ask the universe, your spirit guides and angels for clarity about the intentions you are setting. Be open to any ides which may flow into your mind. When you are ready open your eyes and set down your crystals.

Now write down a concise intention statement, setting yourself a goal focused affirmation. I find that using my golden tigers eye crystal helps me to gain clarity and guidance when setting intentions.

Once you have written your statement, pick up your black moonstone again and close your eyes. Visualize your intention coming to pass in as much detail as possible.

Feel in your body, your mind and your spirit the way that you will feel when your intention has been realized. How will you feel once you have manifested this? Hold your rainbow moonstone to help you gain clarity.

Next, create an action plan for your intention by brainstorming a list of all the steps which will bring you closer to your goal. What actions will you need to take to manifest your goal? Write this next to your intention statement.

Place your action plan onto your table in your sacred space with the black moonstone set on top. This serves as a gesture that you are planting the seed for your intention to grow.

Blow out the candle and leave the list and the crystal in place until the Full moon. This is when you will begin to actively manifest your intention.

Conclusion

When you fully understand the effect that lunar energy has on your mind, body, and spirit, as well as how much living in harmony with natural cycles affects your well-being, it is easy to see the importance of returning to a relationship with the moon.

Reclaim a commitment to being more conscious of lunar energy. Pay attention to this beautiful celestial body and learn what she has to share with you.

Allow the moons cycle and the innate qualities of her energy to inspire you to live a more soulful life.

Much Love
