“The gift of gratitude is one blessing that we use for free. What is gratitude blessings? To be thankful, to give appreciation, to show that you are grateful. When I started counting my blessings every day,my whole life turned around”

What is Gratitude Blessings?

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful, readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. To say the words “Thank-you”.

For centuries, the power of gratitude has been practiced and preached. No matter who you are or where you come from, the practice of gratitude blessings can change your entire life.

” When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the morning light, for your food, for life and strength. Give thanks for the joy of living. If you can see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies with yourself.” Shawnee Native American Leader

The universal law of gratitude states that “every action has an opposite or equal reaction”.

Every act of giving thanks will cause the reaction of receiving. The more gratitude you give, the more you will receive. So many people today are unaware of the great power behind being grateful and fewer people still practice it. Gratitude can change your life. It can turn your relationships into happy meaningful ones. It can increase your health and bring you great happiness.

” The more you are thankful, the more you attract things to be thankful for”

Take a look at your life right now. Look at the major areas, money, health, career, relationships. The areas of your life that are abundant, are where you have used gratitude. Those which are not are due to lack of gratitude. When we are not grateful we are taking things for granted. This is something that everyone does at some stage in their life. It is never too late to start applying gratitude as a part of your every day life. Start practicing gratitude today and watch your life transform before you.

” At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each one of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us” Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965)

Practice giving Gratitude Blessings

You can brighten a persons’ day with kindness. Give blessings to all that you encounter through your day. If someone shows you a kindness, return that kindness with the words, “thank-you”.

You may wish to pick some flowers and give them as an appreciation, an offer of dinner or simply the gift of your time.

No matter how you show your appreciation to another, it will always return to you with a blessing. Show ungratefulness, and this is what you will receive in return.

” It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich” Lutheran Pastor

Feeling grateful reduces feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. Invite gratitude into your daily routine. It is amazing how the simple act of saying or writing, “I am grateful for…” can shift your perception in life. Small things like flowers growing on the side of the road or the smell in the air as rain is about to fall, will bring you feelings of joy. Your mind will be re calibrated into seeing the best in everything.

Deliberately think and say the words “thank-you”. The more that you think and say thank-you, the more gratitude you will begin to feel. When practicing gratitude, feel as much as you can the actual feeling that you have when you are thankful. That nice, fuzzy, warm tingling that you get when you see that you have given someone a kindness or that you really appreciate what has been given to you.

Repetition becomes Habit

When forming a habit, repetition is the key. Make gratitude a new habit. Practice gratitude daily.

Below are some ideas to get you started with daily gratitude blessings.

You will need:

1) As we know, repetition is how we form habits. It takes roughly one month to form a habit,so to start off, each evening before you go to bed, write down three things that you are grateful for that happened during your day. Once you have written down your three gratitude blessings, read them out loud and really feel as sincere as possible about them. Do this for a whole month.

For example:

I am grateful for the beautiful weather today as it allowed me to eat my lunch outside.

I am truly blessed for my health which enables me to live each day

I am blessed for the food which I ate today which keeps me healthy.

You can express gratitude for anything at all, from your eyes to see with, your ears to hear with, friends, colleague, the weather or anything at all that you feel grateful for. As you see the list of things that we can be grateful for goes on :and on. The more that you practice gratitude, the easier it becomes and the better your life will be.

” If the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is thank you, it will be enough” ( Meister Eckhart)

2) To really get a taste of just how simple it is to show gratitude, sit and think about all the things that were given to you as a young child by your parents, grandparents or caregiver. This could be things like, clothes to wear, food to eat, education, toys, pets, outings..anything that you can think of that you were given for free, without having to pay anyone back. You will find when you begin this exercise, that there is actually a lot that we took for granted as children growing up, and perhaps still do as adults .

Sit back and really feel gratitude for all that you received as a child. Give thanks to those that looked after you. Count your blessings for all that you received.

3) Now that you have taste of feeling gratitude blessings, write down a list of everything that you are grateful for in your life right now. Include absolutely everything that you can think of and write it in your journal.

” Gratitude replaces scarcity with enough, it generates appreciation, creates a positive outlook and is excellent for our health”
